The Design Residency is a two day residency in six cities, The Lemiga Method's 2027 tour, built for planners ready to design like an artist and lead like a creative director. Over two days in each city, you put a proven four step design process into practice through an event concept created just for that city and its venue, then bring it to life through hands on production. No two residencies are the same, and you leave with new expertise, real production experience, and portfolio images from a luxury event you helped create.

This is a live, in-person residency taught by Michelle Gainey, founder of Lemiga Events, drawing from over 20 years of real-world event design and production experience.

Every residency is built on The Lemiga Method 4 Step Design Process. Over two days, you move through all four, hands on, in a real venue, alongside a guest speaker at the top of their craft.

Discovery

  • Build a repeatable discovery process that takes you from a client conversation to an original concept

The Design Deck

  • Turn the concept in your head into a deck your vendors can actually build from

  • Include the building blocks, floor plans, materials, lighting, and fabrication, not just imagery

Design Presentation

  • Present the full design so your client commits before you start pricing

  • Learn to defend your concept and your price without apologizing or over explaining

Production

  • Run a production timeline and a final walk through, so decisions are not made on site

  • Direct vendors in their own language, and question a plan instead of approving what you were sent

  • Stand in a real install and direct it, with someone who has done it for 21 years beside you

  • Make the room look and feel like the deck on install day

Across the season, guest speakers at the top of their craft lead each design focus, from florals and fabrication to lighting, tabletop, print, and staging, plus a section on AI event design and styling for photography, with a styled shoot produced on site so you leave with portfolio images.

Hi, I’m Michelle Gainey. For over two decades, I’ve built and led a successful event design and production company, creating high level weddings, corporate events, and immersive experiences for brands and discerning clients.

Now I teach event planners and creatives how to develop confident concepts, lead production with clarity, and guide teams and vendors with authority. The Design Residency is the room I wish I'd had to learn the technical side of event design and production.
